Cakinberk Telekom Ltd. Sti. produces and owns Boxpn. With headquarters in Turkey, the company has been in business since 1998, selling web hosting services and dedicated servers. Because the company quickly found that there was a high demand for VPN service, it developed Boxpn to provide customers with reliable, safe, stable networking at a reasonable price.

Boxpn has 58 server locations running PPTP/L2TP or SSTP protocols. The priority of the company is on maximum speed and privacy. Each server is connected to 200Gbit through PlusServer AG, UK2 Group, iWeb Technologies, and Softlayer Technologies Inc. Each has direct connections to some of the most reliable providers in Europe and the United States.

When you utilize Boxpn, you gain access to restricted websites, multiple IP addresses, and unlimited bandwidth. The software exels with Windows 7. There are setup instructions available for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android.

 Pricing Tiers

There are multiple packages available with Boxpn. Each tier adds features that the previous one lacks. For example, you may choose to pay for a subscription that includes anti-malware, PPTP/L2TP plus SSTP, or mobile support. There is a trial version of the product, and there is a 100 percent money back guarantee offered for each package.

The minimal fee for added features is well worth the cost. For instance, we chose to pay for a yearly subscription with added SSTP. We were charged just $69.97 for the year which averages $5.83 per month.

 Customer Support

Customer support is available 24/7 via chat. Once we initiated a chat session, we were connected to a representative in under a minute. The representative was friendly and did not appear to be working from a script.

There are also the options of connecting with support via the Contact Us button and email. We found email support to be adequate, but it was nowhere near as quick as chat.

 Privacy and Security

When it comes to privacy and security, Boxpn can’t be beat. The company utilizes 2048bit SSTP encryption for any server running on Microsoft TMG. The VPN connection is secured with spyware, malware, and anti-viral scanning. The company does not collect logs, meaning all of your data is sent privately and anonymously.

 The Boxpn VPN Website

The Boxpn website is professional and easy to navigate. We found information that we were looking for simply and quickly. Pricing plans are clearly displayed, as are the features that are available with each packaging tier.

 Signing Up

We chose to download and install the PPTP/L2TP plus SSTP package for the purposes of this review. We provided enough information to set up a new account, entered our payment details, and received a welcome email in just a few minutes. Through the welcome email, we were able to set up our new VPN rather quickly.

The instructions we were given stated that it could take up to two hours to be connected for the first time. It actually took less than 30 minutes for our account to be verified and our connection to be established. We initially connected to a server in Germany and switched to one in the US that was closer to our physical location.

We found that the instructions were very simple and believe that people new to VPNs will have no problem installing the software. We did not experience any issues, and we did not find it necessary to contact customer support during the installation process.

Supported Platforms

Boxpn is compatible with Linux, Mac and Windows. Additionally, the service is compatible with Android, iOS, Nokia, Windows Mobile, and DDWRT routers. The number of devices which are compatible makes this VPN service a winner in our book as it negates the need to choose multiple service providers.

What we like about Boxpn:

  • Multiple protocols L2TP/IPSec, PPTP, SSL, SSTP
  • IP addresses are dynamic or static
  • Customer support is excellent
  • Easy to install even for newbies
  • Level of compatibility across devices
  • Fair price points for features offered

What we don’t like about Boxpn:

  • Lack of OpenVPN protocol
  • Slow on Windows 8

Overall, there wasn’t much that we didn’t like about Boxpn. The service offers high speeds, great security, and is compatible across multiple devices. We would like to see the company make the software more compatible with Windows 8, but we expect that this will be happening in the future. We recommend this service provider to any consumer that wants to browse the Internet with privacy and security.
